Published 1 September 2026, a Blind Justice UK investigation reveals critical insights into the legal review process. If you report a solicitor to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the SRA closes your report without further investigation, you have no right to a review of that decision. In the period of 2023/24, the SRA closed 8,317 cases in this manner, which accounts for roughly seven out of ten matters it handled. Interestingly, the SRA's own rulebook grants solicitors formal review rights over decisions made against them. This report, built entirely from the SRA's own data, rules, and Independent Reviewer reports, presents nine pivotal questions to the SRA, urging both the Legal Services Board and the Justice Select Committee to take appropriate action. Update, 3rd of September 2026
On the day the SRA published the independent Jenner & Block review into its handling of PM Law, and the Legal Services Board announced intensified enforcement action against the SRA, the Chief Executive of the Legal Services Board replied personally to our open letter, confirming the Board will consider it fully and respond in due course.
