Research and Evidence

Our investigations examine how the legal complaints system actually works: decisions by the Solicitors Regulation Authority that carry no right to a review, the Legal Ombudsman's publication and retention of its decisions, the online review information consumers rely on to choose a lawyer, and the experience of litigants in person in the civil courts.

Send us your SRA letter

If you reported a solicitor or a law firm to the Solicitors Regulation Authority and were told it would not investigate, we would like to see the letter. Our report Taking Their Word For It is built on five such letters and every Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal judgment published since 2015. The more letters we hold, the harder the findings are to dismiss.


Every name, firm and identifying detail is removed. You see the exact wording before anything is published and can withdraw at any point before then. Nothing is forwarded to anyone, and Blind Justice cannot review or take on your case.


Send the letter, as an attachment or pasted in, to info@blindjustice.org.uk with LETTER in the subject line. If you would rather talk first, say so and we will call you.

SRA Response

On the 1st of September 2026 Blind Justice UK wrote to the Chief Executive of the SRA with the nine questions set out in section 11 of A Law Unto Themselves, and asked for a substantive response by the 30th of September. This letter arrived at 17:03 on the 30th of September. The Chief Executive's office passed the charity's letter to the Director of Investigations; the reply is signed on his behalf by the Head of Investigations of the Assessment and Early Resolution Team, the team whose decisions the questions concern. 


It is published here in full and unedited, as promised alongside our original letter.
