The Governance Blind Spot

What Public Data Reveals About Law Firm Governance

Published 8 May 2026. A Blind Justice UK research publication.

The first independent public analysis of structural governance indicators across the SRA-regulated law firm population. 961 firms with three or more offices were assessed against indicators drawn from the SRA's own Growth Strategies Thematic Review and the independent reviews into Axiom Ince and SSB Law, cross-referencing the SRA Register with Companies House. 62 firms showed two or more indicators and nine showed four or more; over 20 individuals in governance roles also hold appointments at ten or more dissolved companies.

None of this means any firm is failing. The question is whether the SRA has run the same scan on data that is freely available to anyone, and if so, why the results are not published.
